In its early round, MIT admitted 687 students out of 11,924 applications, yielding 5.76 percent, which is the lowest rate of acceptance in an early round among its peer group composed of the Ivy League and Stanford. There was a substantial decrease in applications likely due to MIT requiring standardized test scores in the application process.
